What can we help with?
You don’t need to know exactly what is causing your symptoms before contacting us.
We’ve included some of the common problems people visit The Hive Health with below. If your symptoms aren’t listed, or you simply don’t know where to start, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re in the wrong place.
Chiropractic or osteopathy?
You don’t need to work out which profession your condition “belongs” to before booking.
For the problems we commonly see at The Hive Health, there isn’t a condition that automatically needs to be seen by a chiropractor rather than an osteopath—or vice versa. Both are regulated healthcare professions, and although there are some differences in training and clinical approach, there is considerable overlap in how our chiropractors and osteopaths assess and treat people.
In practice, the individual practitioner—their experience, treatment style and approach—often matters more than their professional title.
We also work as a team. If your practitioner believes that another member of the team or a different healthcare service would be better suited to your needs, they’ll explain why and help direct you appropriately.
Some of the problems we commonly see
Headaches
Headaches can have many different causes. Our practitioners commonly assess people whose headaches may be related to the neck, including pain beginning around the neck or base of the skull.
Neck pain
We see people with recent or long-standing neck pain, stiffness and restricted movement, including symptoms affecting everyday activities, work or sleep.
Back pain
People visit us with different types of back pain—from a recent flare-up to symptoms that have been present for much longer. A First Visit allows us to understand how your back pain is affecting you and assess whether treatment at The Hive Health may be appropriate.
Sciatica and leg pain
Pain travelling into the buttock or leg is often described as sciatica, but not every case has the same cause. Symptoms can also include tingling, numbness or changes in sensation.
An assessment helps us understand your symptoms and determine whether treatment at The Hive Health may be appropriate—or whether you should speak to another healthcare professional.
More detailed information about each of these problems will be added to this section.
Not sure if we can help?
You don’t need to know your diagnosis before booking a First Visit.
Many people come to us because something doesn’t feel right, their symptoms are affecting everyday life, or they simply want a clearer understanding of what may be going on.
A First Visit gives your practitioner time to listen, assess you and explain what they find. If we think you’re in the right place, we’ll discuss the options available. If we don’t, we’ll tell you honestly and help you understand what to do next.
If you’re genuinely unsure whether you should book, you can contact us to request guidance by email or a callback from one of our practitioners.
What happens next?
A First Visit lasts approximately one hour and costs £65, payable on the day. Your practitioner will listen to what has been happening, carry out an appropriate assessment and explain their findings and recommendations.
Your first treatment is included if treatment is appropriate and you are happy to proceed.
An assessment does not automatically mean that treatment will be recommended. If we don’t believe The Hive Health is the appropriate place for you, we’ll explain why and advise, signpost or refer you as appropriate.
